More Than a Name: A Mission to Believe In.

The name “Pivotal Systems” represents all that our existing facility, business, and janitorial services offer,
and also signifies our commitment to human-centered work processes and our mission of inclusion.
Essential Expertise.
There’s no successful business space without the highest level of facility care and maintenance—expertise that is truly pivotal to your operation.
Responsive Service.
The word “pivotal” also speaks to our team’s exceptionally responsive approach: we pivot to provide service as and when you need it.

Positive Change.
“Pivotal” also represents the mission of disability inclusion we share with our parent company, Northwest Center. Pivotal Systems facility care supports pivotal, positive change toward a world where all people engage and contribute.

Their turnover rate: 170%
Pivotal Systems: 8%

No, really. Pivotal Systems retains employees 2125% longer than the industry average. Because we take care of our employees and are inclusive, we reduce re-training time while you reap the benefit of our efficient teams who get to know your business to take the best care of you, too.

Good for Business,Good for Humans.

We’re part of Northwest Center, where a mission of disability inclusion proves that when people of all abilities learn and work together, everyone benefits. Years of positive customer feedback (supported by scientific research) show that a workforce that includes people with disabilities improves customer satisfaction, service, and product quality.

Our inclusive workforce of highly skilled, dedicated employees increases our employee retention, and that longevity increases technical expertise. That means we gain deeper knowledge of—and provide better care for—your company.

Work with Pivotal Systems, and you make a meaningful impact, too: Not only do we employ people of all abilities, but we also operate as a social enterprise: providing the highest quality business services while helping to fund Northwest Center programs for children and adults with disabilities.

We Operate as a Social Enterprise to make Better Possible and Sustainable

It’s the future of business, but we’ve been working this way for nearly 50 years: operating as a social enterprise means we deliver both expert business services and positive social impact.

How Social Enterprise Works.

Business: Northwest Center businesses like Pivotal Systems employ people with and without disabilities and serve as a model for inclusive businesses everywhere.

Revenue: Our companies generate unrestricted funding for services for people with disabilities, allowing Northwest Center to be self-sustainable while maximizing funding sources like grants and donations.

Mission: Our businesses employ people with disabilities and generate revenue to fund more of our nonprofit inclusion services for children and adults with disabilities.

A Business Model that Proves Inclusion Works.

Northwest Center was founded in 1965 by Seattle parents of children with disabilities who wrote the first legislation to ensure education to children like theirs, then went on to prove that people with disabilities are a valuable addition to the workplace.

What began as Northwest Center job training and workshops evolved into businesses where people with and without disabilities worked side by side: a furniture woodworking shop, a secure shredding company, and assembly, packaging, and administrative services for companies and organizations including Nordstrom, Starbucks, and King County of WA.

Today Northwest Center owns and operates a portfolio of commercial businesses including Pivotal Systems. Learn more at NWCenterBusiness.com.

Northwest Center Employment Services
We work with adults with disabilities to find employment meaningful to both them and their employers, from getting graduating high school students on the path to employment to working with adults to assess career interests, provide hands-on training, and support them on the job for as long as needed.
